How we handle your information

Who runs this site

The K-Town Archive is a project of the Koreatown Storytelling Program at the Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC), in partnership with the UCLA Archive of Healing.

KYCC is responsible for the information you submit through the forms on this site. UCLA holds and preserves the archival materials contributed to the collection. If you are not sure who to ask, write to us and we will point you to the right person.

What we collect

We only collect information you type into a form and choose to send us. There are two forms on this site.

• The contact form asks for your first name, last name, email address, the reason you are reaching out, and your message.
• The healer sign-in form asks for your name, contact details, practice type, background, and the healing modalities you work with.

Nothing else is collected automatically as you move around the site.

What we do not do

No cookies. No advertising trackers. No analytics scripts following you from page to page. No visitor profiles.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.

Why we collect it

• Contact form: so we can reply to you, answer your question, and pass it to the right person at KYCC.
• Healer sign-in form: so we can learn about your practice, follow up about taking part in the archive, and invite you to community programs.

We use what you send for those purposes and nothing else.

Who can see it

• Staff and program coordinators at KYCC who need it in order to respond to you.
• Our hosting and database providers, who store the information on our behalf under their own security terms.

We will only hand your information to anyone else if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Contact messages are kept while we are working with you and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we can pick up a conversation where it left off.

Healer submissions are kept for as long as you are connected to the program, or until you ask us to remove them.

You can ask us to delete what we hold at any time. Write to hello@ktownarchive.com and we will take care of it.

Oral histories and archival materials

Material in the archive is handled differently from anything sent through a web form. If you took part as a narrator, what you shared is governed by the release you signed with the Koreatown Storytelling Program.

You can ask us to review, restrict, or withdraw your material at any time. Contact us and we will walk through the options with you.

A narrator's wishes come before the convenience of the archive. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.

Children

This site is made for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Where a young person has taken part in the Koreatown Storytelling Program, their participation is handled through the program with consent from a parent or guardian.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Write to hello@ktownarchive.com.

We will respond within a reasonable time and we will not make you jump through hoops to get an answer.

If you live in California, state privacy law gives you additional rights over your personal information. The same email address is the place to start.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not send sensitive details such as medical records or financial information through the contact form.

Changes to this page

We may update this page as the archive grows. The date at the top will always tell you when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will say so on the homepage.
